Bargello and Bars
Bargello Heart & Caramel Pecan Bars
Welcome to my new series Stitchin’ & Bitchin’ in the Kitchen Where I share a recipe and needlepoint stitch that I am currently loving, and sometimes, I even share a few thoughts or funny stories…
Ah, February—the month of love, sweet treats and an endless supply of heart-shaped everything. One thing’s for sure: Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to pour a glass of wine, grab your favorite canvas, and stitch up something fabulous.
Let’s be honest, though. Valentine’s Day looks a little different when you’d rather be threading a needle than planning a candlelit dinner. Some people dream of diamonds; we dream of perfectly tensioned stitches and a brand-new project that doesn’t require frogging (a girl can hope, right?).
And let’s talk about gifts. Some people get flowers. We prefer silk threads in the perfect shade of pink. Chocolate? Sure, but have you ever unwrapped a beautifully painted canvas instead? Now that’s romance.
This time of year, I like to pull out my prettiest pinks and work on something festive, like this Bargello heart stitch, or maybe even a cheeky needlepoint saying (because nothing says love like a sassy little pillow). And if you’re feeling extra generous, why not stitch up a gift for someone special? Needlepoint is the ultimate love language—it takes time, patience, and a whole lot of heart.💕
So, whether you’re stitching for yourself, a friend, or even that special someone (who better appreciate the hours you put into it), embrace the season of love—needlepoint style. And if you’d rather just sit back, stitch, and bitch about the price of greeting cards, well, you’re in good company.
Today I am going to share with you my love for Bargello (and a sweet treat). There are so many beautiful patterns that can be used in so many areas in Needlepoint, backgrounds, snow, furniture, and clothing. This Bargello pattern looks so sweet on a dress and even for a background.
Happy Valentine’s Day, stitchers!

Caramel Pecan Bars
Ingredients:
2 Boxes of Yellow Cake Mix
2 Eggs
2/3 Cups of soften Butter
2 Cans of Sweetened Condensed Milk
2 Cups of Chopped Pecans
1 Cup of Heath Toffee Bits (I like to add an extra ½ cup because I love toffee)
1 Egg
Instructions:
Grease a 9 X 13 inch pan and preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix together the cake mix, softened butter and the 2 eggs. The mixture might be a little crumbly. Press into the greased pan.
Stir together the condensed milk, pecans and Heath toffee bits, and the eggs. Pour over the crust.
Bake for about 30 minutes until the filling is golden brown and bubbly, cool completely before cutting into squares. These are very rich so cut them into smaller squares.
This Recipe should make about 36 squares. These yummy little treats freeze well.
